New York’s Fanciest Fried Chicken: Coqodaq
Champagne and fried chicken? An unexpected match made in heaven. Simon Kim and his Gracious Hospitality Management behind the michelin-starred steakhouse COTE, have officially launched Coqodaq. This new spot is located on East 22nd Street in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, just down the street from Cote.
However, this is not your typical fried chicken joint. Coqodaq offers a fine-dining take on wildly popular Korean fried chicken that has some even referring to it as the “cathedral of fried chicken”. Despite the main focus being fried chicken, the design mirrors the vibe of Cote featuring louche seating, low lighting, and lots of bar space perfect for bites.
The star of the show is the prix fixe menu, Coqodaq’s Bucket List ($38 per person). A bucket of gleaming fried chicken, which uses a gluten-free batter blend with rice flour, comes in both original flavors and your choice of soy sauce garlic glaze or gochujang glaze, along with signature sauces. There’s also roasted chicken consommé to start, ban-chan and cold perilla seed noodles on the side, and soft-serve fro-yo for dessert. The menu also offers seafood towers, $800 tins of caviar, $18 chicken nuggets with trout roe, and a list of 400 Champagnes rumored to be the largest in the country.
With a drumstick in one hand and a glass of Champagne in the other, what could be bad?
